HYDERABAD: Allaying apprehensions of industry and real estate sectors, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday assured them the Congress govt will not only continue the initiatives of the previous govts but also come out with plans to give a fresh boost to Greater Hyderabad to make it a globally competitive city.
Referring to the work of previous govts, the CM said then CMs N Chandrababu Naidu (TDP), YS Rajasekhara Reddy (Congress) (both in the undivided state), and K Chandrasekhar Rao (BRS) in Telangana had contributed to the development of Hyderabad in the last 30 years.
“Learning from their experiences, we (new Cong govt) will continue the development. I need a little more time to fully understand the administration and will consult all stakeholders before taking major decisions. No unilateral decisions will be taken or else it will lead to another problem akin to Medigadda barrage,” the CM said after inaugurating the Telangana State Fire Services headquarters at Nanakramguda.
Govt will move forward by solving the problems in the past and prepare plans for the future, he said. Greater Hyderabad has emerged as an ideal investment destination and maintenance of law and order was crucial for investments, he added.
CM Revanth, who also holds the municipal administration and urban development portfolio, said the Congress govt will soon come out with a mega master plan-2050 with a clear vision for development of the city and state. The mega master plan-2050 proposes planned development of the city within the outer ring road (ORR), peri-urban areas between ORR and regional ring road (RRR), and rural areas beyond the RRR.
“We will start by consulting experts and then make decisions. The govt will not tolerate any violation of the law. After politics, real estate is another sector which I have knowledge about. Do not worry about decisions or approvals being delayed. It is only a matter of time before things are expedited,” he said. He said that Metro rail was here to stay and new routes/extension have been announced for the benefit of middle-class sections instead of non-feasible routes. Even the Pharma City project has not been shelved as the new govt will develop pharma village clusters instead.
Zero-interest loan to women self-help groups soon: Bhatti Vikramarka
Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said the state government would revive the interest-free loans to women self-help groups (SHGs), a scheme implemented by the then Congress govt in the undivided state but discontinued by the previous BRS government.
The announcement of “vaddi leni runalu scheme” (interest-free loan scheme)” by Bhatti in the temple town of Bhadrachalam assumes significance keeping in view the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The Congress govt is already implementing free bus travel for women scheme, one of the six guarantees made by it in its assembly election manifesto.
Bhatti also announced that the govt would re-launch the “Indira Jala Prabha” scheme of the previous Congress govt as part of which motors would be provided on subsidy to the tribals to transform barren land into cultivable land through irrigation. “Steps are being taken to ensure that teachers working in Anganwadi centres receive their pending salaries and also monthly salaries before third of every month,” he said after attending the meeting of Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Bhadrachalam.
Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, elected representatives from local bodies from surrounding assembly constituencies and officials participated in the meeting.
Earlier, the ministers offered prayers at Sitaramaswamy temple in Bhadrachalam and said the bund-cum-bridge, a long pending demand, would be constructed soon to avoid flooding of areas in the temple town.
Stating that the Congress govt would revive the glory of ITDAs which were neglected by the BRS, Bhatti said tribals would be encouraged to take up plantation of saplings for ayurveda in podu lands to enhance their income potential. The govt would also set up a pharmacy to be managed by AYUSH, ensure that super speciality doctors services through video-conferencing, provide passbooks to those engaged in agriculture in assigned lands. “No meeting of the governing body in ITDA was held for the last four years and henceforth, a meeting would be held once in three months,” he said.
