Sharp rise in cases of stray dog attacks in city: Report
Meanwhile, reports suggest a sharp rise in cases of stray dog attacks in the city with the latest being earlier this month from Dilsukhnagar area where a six-year-old was chased and attacked by strays. When contacted subsequently, GHMC officials had told TOI that they have launched a combing operation in the area to corral unsterilised stray dogs. Around 20 of them were rounded up in the area, but all of them were found to be sterilised. They were subsequently released.
According to the civic body’s records, there are at least 60,000 unsterilised stray dogs in the city – 15% of the total stray dog population. Such dogs, it is said, are more prone to aggressive behaviour.
