Football Match: Bfc Rally To Hold Hyd Fc | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Football Club (HFC) played out a 1-1 draw with Bengaluru FC at the GMC Balayogi Stadium on Saturday.
HFC’s Mohammad Yasir and Ryan Williams of BFC scored on either side of the break. The result helped Bengaluru FC move up to eighth place with five points from six games while Hyderabad were 11th in the 12-team table.
Hyderabad started on a positive note with Brazilian midfielder Joao Victor managing to breach the BFC defence only to be thwarted by the Blues’s shot-stopper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.
Simon Grayson made one change to the side. Jessel Carneiro replaced the suspended Naorem Roshan Singh. HFC made four changes. Thangboi Singto started with Mark Zothanpuia, Felipe Amorim and Nim Dorjee Tamang. Costa Rican striker Jonathan Moya was the pivot for Hyderabad.
Bengaluru’s best chance came at the half-hour mark when Sunil Chhetris shot on goal was saved by Gurmeet Singh. Bengaluru came close to scoring from the resulting corner before Ryan Williams’ swing into the area was nodded off the target by Jovanovic.
Yasir broke the deadlock. He controlled a long diagonal from Alanis and slotted it past Gurpreet. Though Bengaluru raised the momentum, shots from Suresh Wangjam and Halicharan Narzary were way off the mark.
Grayson made three changes at the break. Rohit Kumar, Robin Yadav and Javi Hernandez replaced Patre, Carneiro and Damjanovic. The changes worked as Blues levelled in the 58th minute as Hernandez found Narzary down the left flank.
The winger raced into the box and his low pass was slotted home by Williams from a close range.
Two minutes later, Bengaluru got a chance to take the lead when a miscued clearance from Zothanpuia allowed Suresh through on goal. Gurmeet, however, made a good save for the hosts.
Next up, Hyderabad face Punjab FC on November 7 in New Delhi and Bengaluru play NorthEast United FC in Guwahati on November 26.
