NEW DELHI: Indian players took the field in their ICC World Cup match against England on Sunday wearing black armbands as a mark of tribute to legendary Indian spinner Bishan Singh Bedi, who passed away on October 23.
Bedi breathed his last at the age of 77 last week after a prolonged illness
Besides the Indian players, the support staff led by head coach Rahul Dravid was also spotted wearing black armbands.

Bedi was part of India’s celebrated spin quartet alongside Erapalli Prasanna, Srinivas Venkataraghavan and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar.
Bedi played 67 Tests and took 266 wickets, besides a mind-boggling 1560 wickets in first-class cricket.

He also played 10 ODIs and captained India in 22 Tests.
On Sunday in Lucknow, England won the toss and put India in to bat.

India are so far unbeaten in five matches, while England have registered just one win in five matches.
